VISUALIZING TIME

INFORMATION: This sculpture is my interpretation of time and it’s composed of staples. The sculpture looks very mechanical and manufactured, making it feel almost inhumane. Although the individual letters are precisely structured, when they are placed together without being bound to a particular ruleset, they become a labyrinth; or a trap. The start and the end become unclear forcing the individual to be consumed by only what is in front of him/her.

INSPIRATION: My interpretation of time is that it is an embodiment of a paradox. Time feels fast but slow, controllable yet uncontrollable, and valuable or futile. The only absolute factor regarding time is that it is connected. The decision that we made in the past has a direct impact on us now, and the decision we make now will have a direct impact on our future ultimately leading to our fate.
